PROLOGUE:

The next page you are about to see is a transcription of a speech written by a 17 year old hearing impaired girl, Jennifer Grogan. She delivered it flawlessly, from memory, at the CCHI competition held on the last day of the fourth annual Pacific Southwest District quarterly convention. It was held in an auditorium located beside a lovely marina at the Casa Serena Hotel, Oxnard, California, on Sunday, August 11, 1991, at 9:30 a.m.

This is a transcript of her original text, unabridged and edited only to correct minor spelling, punctuation and form.

Final note: prologue and epilogue excluded, this document is presented for sharing, and not subject to correction. Critical comments are, of course, welcome.
