The SCV-Newhall Optimist Club is a chartered club of Optimist International. As such, we participate in a large number of international efforts to "Bring Out The Best In Children". The club is a member of the Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce, The Valley Industrial Association and the Santa Clarita Resource Center.Optimist International's mission is to foster an optimistic way of life, through a network of Optimists, dedicated to the full development of their potential in order to provide ever-expanding service to youth, the community and the world.
A major focus, as part of Optimist International, is to support the Childhood Cancer Campaign - "Providing the Care...Finding the Cure".
We also conduct annual Essay and Oratorical Contests wherein children from local schools compete for scholarship funds to assist with efforts during their educational years beyond High School.
The SCV-Newhall Optimist Club also conducts a number of local activities, all aimed at maximizing the opportunity for children to enjoy happy and successful lives. These include: participation in the Junior Blind Olympics in the spring of each year, Celebrate Life (With Hope)with Children's Hospital, Los Angeles and Santa's Magic, a program in which we distribute toys provided by the Santa Clarita community to the children of Jail Inmates.
We are also proud supporters of the Optimist Youth Home and Family Services agency which has been providing critical support to youth and their families for more than 100 years. Click here to visit the OYHFS website.
