Hello!
Welcome to the world of Heads Up, a special place for those with special goals; goals to walk, talk, and learn socialization skills. Simple skills for most of us, but extremely challenging goals when you have a disability. Learning balance, increasing muscle tone, gaining self-confidence, and self-motivation are the cornerstones of our work, and it is all accomplished because of the horse. That marvelous, mystical, unconditional love-giving, fuzzy giant who has shared so many centuries with the human race. It has been said, the best thing for the inside of the human is the outside of the horse. I agree, because I have witnessed miracles. In 1985 my horse Dusty and I worked with two children and "got hooked." Since then dozens of children have partaken of his special therapy at Heads Up and there is always a waiting list. Dusty is no longer with us, but her spirit, caring nature, and understanding live on through those who have taken her place, along with many dedicated human volunteers who make it possible for Heads Up to "be there" for some very special individuals.
I invite you to visit our ranch and witness Heads UP yourself. Please, join us in our quest to enrich the lives of those who ride with us; the quest for future independence, job opportunities, and a place in the community. Through therapy on horseback these dreams can become realities.
